Many of the tractors have direct PTO driven saw mills and the like. I thought it would be easier to extend the rear PTO shaft and connect it directly to one of these PTO driven mills (cement mixer, auger, generator, etc) instead of the belt type. Carriers and bearings for mid shaft supports are still fairly common at surplus places, and it wouldn't take too much to fabricate an extended shaft. Keep searching [PTO] on Ebay & you might get lucky finding what you want over time!
