Looking for feedback. I just went through the front diff, replaced thrust washers, etc. and I'm wondering a couple things. Going by the book and setting the pinion preload, it calls for 60-80 inch lbs. I'm right at 75 using a diel torque wrench. This seems tight to the hand when rotating, Is this preload correct?
The other thing is the front two bearings, the front is marked with a "Y" and so is the double cone. My question, what is the difference with the "Y" bearing?? I picked up a new Timkin # 44143 to replace the front most bearing but it does not have the "Y" on it. Is this have to do with the oil passages in the cone??
