If you want PW quality look for a Gravely. I have several of them and numerous parts units. They are a quality unit. They were a division of Studebaker in the 40's & 50's and AMF in the later years. They built there own engines for many years - parts are still available for the older units. They displaced 30 CUI and were rated at 2600 rpm (not 3600 like BS pretend engines). Features: full pressure lube system with filter, Wico self contained magneto with impulse, 3 different final drive ratios offered, 2 speeds forward and reverse - there even was an optional 2 speed final that gave 4 gears. There is lots of cast iron. Internals are quality planetary units. The final drive is a worm drive with automotive type differential - the 2spd axle was a miniature copy of an Eaton 2spd. Numerous attachments are available: mowers from 30" to 60" (the 30" used 1/2" material for the blade and will cut saplings!), rotory plow (leaves a furow like a single bottom plow), rototiller, rotory snow plow, reel mowers, riding & steering sulky, sickle mower, electric start, dual wheels, 3to1 12" gear reduction wheels (8" direct drive wheels standard), full range engine govenor, snow plow blade & numerous more. The new units are really very spendy ($4000 10 yrs ago) and are aimed at the commercial market. Older units are more practical cost wise.
Watch your local estate auctions - the units surface there periodically. My dad bought his several years ago at an auction for $250.00 with many attachments included. Good luck.
