Friend Just picked up a '42 WC 56 Command Car
Serial #81586366
Body# 4219-11835
Eng # P24*29714I*
Navy dash tag (round key Fob) USN 265 12885 (on three lines there)

Ok, frames painted Grey, (No green OD underneath) body under "Hunter Green" is Grey, seems to be black markings. The seats seem to be done in black Leatherette under two other later cushions. This one fits in the Serial scheme of the "Navy Department Contract" according to the serial list. (We also happen to live near Norfolk Navy base in Virginia too where I suspect she used to reside....)

Questions:
-Anyone have references for a Navy Command Car??? (Think only 62 were ordered) (Any Photos??)

-Where are the markings located such that I can uncover them without doing the whole body (seems like tailgate has one)

-Anyone else SEEN one of these before?

Will need a spare tire carrier and passenger running board for major items.

After starting her (had a bad condensor in the distributor) I felt like I had just "made fire" like Tom Hanks in "Castaway".
Thing runs better than my own WC56, and it even runs on the 5 year old fuel that I reconnected following initial starting.
Unbelivable how tough these guys are.
Regards W. Winget
