I tuned up the brand new 318 in my 6x6 today. I'm getting a high speed miss starting at 1800 rpm, but it idles perfectly. Here's where things are:
- Idle speed set to 750 rpm
- Timing set to 5 deg BTDC (dist vacuum pulled)
- Set the idle mixture screws to get max vacuum
- Dwell was a little low at 27, but I realized I set the points to 0.020" instead of 0.017" so that's probably the reason.

With the vacuum line pulled to the distributor the engine runs perfectly from 750-2700 rpm. With the vacuum line attached to the carb I start getting a little miss at around 1800 rpm. Could this be caused by the points being too open (early timing) or the engine being set to 5 deg BTDC? Spec is 2-1/2 deg, but I'm at 5500ft here in Colorado.
