Worst part of the wear is the bronze bushing in the axle housing. Getting the axle centered and keeping it such, should be a good thing.

a) Once you figure out how much, shouldn't you take it apart and put half on the bottom?

b) Or leave them all on top, but every gazillion miles, take some out to make up for bearing wear?

c) or are we already crazy? :^)
