Gettting rid of brass?

Working on the driver's seat frame on my WC53. The backing sheetmetal has, at one time, been brazed to the seat frame. Its kinda' tack welded. Quite a few of the brazed blobs are broken. I'd like to get the brass out of there, because its in the way of getting things to fit tight. It would be nice to fit the plate in there better and just gas weld it in. (I only have a gas welding setup.)

Is there some way to get the brass out of there?
