Long story - looking for advice. I have my dad's '64 D200 ( /6 4spd), and a rolling '70 W200 frame with no engine/transmission. The '64 runs and drives fine, but 2wd so it gets parked 1/2 the year.
The '70 frame has a winch, big knuckle front end, and custom springs. All in good shape.
Interchange differences between the years, as I recall, are the transmission and support, t-case and support, hyd vs mech clutch, and wheelbase.
Thought I might sell the '64 and buy a 69-71 2wd truck for the body, engine, and transmission. Easy build then. But I'm not seeing any that have everything I need - and the '64 wouldn't go for much $ anyway. I'm also not seeing decent 4x4 donors where I could just move '64 body over.
I'm sure I can make the '70s parts work on the '64 but I'm wondering if I'm crazy to do the work just to end up with a mutt.
