hi ernie, not wanting to start a pissing match the truck i had was purchased from its only civillian owner of approx 80 years old about 15 years ago who purchased it from the tooele army depot in late 1946. when i bought it, the seat ledgers and two removable bench seats were still in the bed although quite rotten, the truck ran good and had low miles as well as a low serial number. the hood number was w-003904 the bed had cast tie down hooks as well the tailgate too, it had a nine point star and markings for the 9th service command on the doors and tailgate as well as unit markings. according to the records i have researched the wc14 was indeed listed as a pickup tuck and the only thing i can think is maybe the transverse seats were either an early model thing, special order or a field mod. the truck was in such good condition i only had to repaint it and do a brake job, it had small front drums. there was no evidence that the bed was not the original as the paint including patina was the same throughout the truck.there were only 268 wc14s made and i hated to part with it but divorce forced me too. it was the nicest original condition 1/2 ton i have ever had ! oh well..
