Alex, I just signed up with Hagerty for my 6x6. I'm using Safeco for my home and regular autos (including my WM300), but they wouldn't insure the 6x6 because it is a modified vehicle (WC chassis, PW cab, 318 engine), and is rated for more than 1 ton.

This discussion got me wondering if I'd made a bad decision, so I called my agent today and he clarified several details for me.
- I can haul materials for personal use with the truck. No business related materials. I think I'm limited to 20 hauling trips a year (not a problem).
- I can tow a trailer with the truck. I think this counts toward the 20 hauling trip rule.
- I can park the truck outside if I am with it, like camping.
- I can't go off-road with the vehicle, but it is okay for me to use marked Forest Service and county roads.
- I can put my business name and number on the door, but I can't park the truck as a business sign.

Apparently the ability to haul materials or tow a trailer varies from state to state (why?), so Virginia may be different from Colorado.

My vehicle is insured for $10,000 guaranteed value, and I'm paying $285 a year for that including the liability policy.

Ironically, the Hagerty rep advised my agent that Grundy has policies that allow for more general use of vehicles like ours. You may want to check them out.
