Weird Request - Old Leaf Spring Piece Needed

I have an old, HEAVY snowplow for my W200 that I use on a regular basis - but somewhere along the way the previous owners lost the skid/shoes so I have to guess (or listen) where to put the blade to not tear everything up.

I'm thinking of using two 1' sections of spring to make my own skids - but I've thrown away all of my old leaf springs.

Does anybody out there have a couple (or one 2' one) that they'd be willing to donate/sell?

Any opinions on why this setup wouldn't work?
