Good points, Mike. Not sure I had thought of the situation exactly in those terms. With these axle shafts that are often viewed as being somewhat weak, and with me putting in a 265 engine modified for extra grunt, and a locker that will send all torque through one axle shaft in certain situations, it could be a recipe for a broken shaft. Although, as you said, it depends on how the driver handles those situations. I really don't do that much off-roading, but when I do, it's a slow-going, idle over the obstacles kind of driving style. I do not like tearing up things, especially my truck. And the suspensions in these trucks are so stiff, I would end up punching my head through the cab rood if I hit some of those uneven trails bery hard. Now, in mud, I suppose it could be a different story. If both tires lose traction, some rpm may be warranted, and then if one of the tires suddenly grabs the ground, then a lot of torque will hit that shaft and could result in breakage, or so it seems.
