They do an auto bid thing like eBay, plus the going going gone for 15 minutes. If the auction ends at noon, it ain't over until 15 minutes past the last bid. Long as people keep bidding late in the 15 minutes, it can go on and on.
If there are several of the same item, make a fixed bid on your favorite one. Say a Blazer for $1500. Other bidders will drop yours off their radar, and drive the $500 units up up up. You win yours at noon, they keep bidding on the one that was only $1200 at noon. It goes for $1850 at 1:48. You get the best Blazer of them all, they overpay for the ones with the transfer case chain hanging out the bottom.
I did it for several sets of Michelin 11.00s too. I got my 4 sets for $350 each, the other hustler here had to pay $400-440. We sold all 8 sets for $800 per.
