I made Boiled Dinner the other night. Just finished some up for lunch today. Throw the following in a pot: 1 cabbage (quartered), 1 stick of REAL butter, 6 potatoes (quartered), carrots (5-7 also quartered), a large onion (quartered), a bunch of celery (like what comes in a bag from the store chopped into 1/2" pieces), 2 Kielbasas sausages (cut into 1" pieces), and salt/pepper to taste. Pour in enough water to cover the potatoes and boil for "awhile" until the veggies are soft. Eat and enjoy. If you want to gussy it up, brown the sausage and onions in some butter in a cast iron skillet first. Great right out of the pot, even better the next day.

The boys and wife weren't sold on it, well little Victor was, he ate 2 man sized bowls, drank all of the broth that he could catch with his face straight out of the bowl, then fell asleep. That is a thumbs up in my book.

Simple, does the job, and gets better with time. Boiled dinner really is the Power Wagon of food.
