Bell System Telephone Splicer's Trailer that was manufactured by the American Coach and Body Company of Cleveland, Ohio in the late 1920’s to early 1930’s.

Similar to the “Trailer, Telephone Cable Splicer, 1/4 ton, Single Axle, K-38” used by the Signal Corps during World War Two, but I think the design of this one is far more versatile.

This one has drop-down doors that create flat work surfaces on both sides and lots of storage. There are storage compartments fore and aft that can only be opened by lifting locking rods hidden in the main compartment.

The last time it was licensed was in 1954 in California.

This trailer is in incredible, untouched, original condition right down to its paint. It is so rare that I have been unable to find out much about it at all, and I’ve never seen another for sale that was this intact. I saw a forum discussion about one that was all rusted out without the doors. The owner posted pictures wanting to know if anyone knew what it was. The best guess was that it was some sort of a food cart!

I bought it in 1975, and have stored it indoors ever since. Because it is so rare and original, I’ve been reluctant to paint it or modify it, so here we are with an extremely rare survivor close to 90 years old! This could well be your best, last and only chance to acquire a trailer like this.

Rides on Model A* tires and wire wheels. Factory equipped with a pintle eye (patented 10 May, 1927). We have discreetly tucked a standard receiver underneath it with the removable tube and 2” ball hitch supplied. We have also wired the trailer with brake lights and turn signals. *Ford Model A vehicles were made from 1927 to 1931.
Perfect for someone with a Bell System Collection, but could also be used as a fantastic Chuck Wagon and/or Camping Trailer.

$3,500.00. Reasonable offers will be seriously considered.

Stored in Mountain View, California until 12 June 2017.
