Greg,

STOCK means the factory built it without it being pre sold. If you look at the hand written options they are fairly dark. After a dealer bought it, the factory also hand wrote, but lighter, the SALES ORDER NUMBER and the dealer destination which is Lansing, Mich. Michigan State University is in East Lansing so the truck appears to have remained local from its original sale. It also appears the writer started to write Lansing after DRAW BAR but stopped and wrote it higher.

The "front & rear" applies to the tires which are 9.00 x 16 - 8 ply.

Unlike today were you can get your VIN before your vehicle is built, these trucks were built and tracked on the assembly line by a sales order or a line sequence number. The serial number was one of the last things to go on it. Nobody tried to make sure all the numbers on a truck were sequential. Think of all the unnecessary effort that would require. Two trucks built the same day with sequential serial numbers can have engine numbers that are off by 700-1000. Not part of your question but I'd like to also add that the government also did not take the unnecessary effort to line up military trucks by serial number before adding registration numbers to them.
