230 rear mail seal

On my '51 I have the two piece external seal. It is a Felpro. It doesn't seem to fit tight at all, it just makes contact with the crankshaft but really doesn't seem to put much pressure on the neoprene lip. Do I need to get a different brand, or is this just the way they fit? Also thinking of putting a magnet in the oil pan.
