I used post-war 4 pinion vs pre-war 2 pinion 8-3/4" third members an axle shafts. The axle shafts are much thicker than the pre-war axle shafts. As the folks here have said, yes the post war units are stronger than the pre-war units, but they are not in the same league as the 9-5/8 third members.
