Tell me more about the Ranger you saw, and where. A 2wd would be a Siebert conversion, but not a Ranger. But a 2wd wouldn't have a transfer case, and you say the one you saw did have a transfer case, so maybe it was a Ranger that had lost its front axle. Which is not uncommon.
There were 50 or so produced total by M-H and Siebert between 1950 and 1956. A 1950 as you've described was found in a Texas yard years ago and rescued. But it has now been parted out. I have one of the three surviving 1951 Rangers, but it's a project. Stu
