John, the WWII three quarter ton Dodges have a different tire carrier than the early WM civilian trucks. I've not laid them side by side, but was told by the Vintage guys that they are different. At one time I had both the WC carryall and the open cab WC52--I assumed the carrier would work on either one but did not try it. The strange thing is that with the spare mounted in place you could not get in the cab from the drivers side. The later open models, near the end of the war, shortened the driver side tool box just enough for you to slip past the mounted spare while climbing in.
