Lyle's truck and the original Coleman conversions had six lug wheels on both axles, and they were half-tons. But if the front axle assembly broke, parts would have been difficult to find, so perhaps the entire front axle assembly was swapped out on your truck. Then the rear axle assembly might have been swapped so its wheels would also fit on the front axle. What transfer case does your '56 have? Like a flat fenfer PW or something else?
