The way I always looked at it was that the chances of finding usable vintage stuff in a junk yard is inversly perportional to the cost of the land. This figure is then divided by the amount of rainfall and salt used on the road. The final figure is then divided by the reletive nearness of any collectors.

Bottom line is that the land is So Cal is too expensive to let iron rest for 50 years before selling it. I hear the Dakotas have some good stuff left but Southern California? Not very likely. The usual reply I get is "We sent that stuff to the steel mill 20 years ago.
