Dana, The bed is supported by five large cross members. Three are made of about four inch "U" shaped channel. These go with the small bolt holes facing up to accept the bolts for the wood skid strips. The one for the rear of the bed has a section cut out along the length of it which differentiates it from the one at the front of the bed and the one just behind it. Small bolts secure the bed to each end of the cross member via a small "L" bracket. Large bolts coming up through the wood with large flat washers secure these three cross members to the frame.

The other two cross members flank the wheel wells fore and aft. These cross members are flatter and have raised pedestal feet. As I remember, the bed is also attached at each end of these. These go with the pedestal feet down which accept a rubber pad with a nipple that goes through the hole in the foot.

The bolt holes for all the skid strips are staggered so every other strip attaches at the front or rear of the cross member, rather than all attaching to front or all attaching to rear.

I have been meaning to privide pics but haven't gotten a chance. I do have an excellent photo from an issue of the PWA that shows an exposed bed with all the wood rotted/removed. I can mail or fax a copy to anyone interested if it's OK with Gordon Maney. I can also send you the diagram I made for Bruce Horkey when ordering materials from him. Good Luck.
