The later 218 (23" head) has a smaller bore (3 1/4"0 and longer stroke (4 3/8") The T-38 would still be a 218". The older T-38 with the larger bore may very well be the longer block. Also in this series is the T-27 241" and the T41 228" with the same bore but longer stroke. I have not seen these motors to verify the length but it makes sense considering the larger bores and shorter strokes. The 237, 250, apparently derive from the same block series with the bores slightly larger at 3 7/16" and with the same strokes. The 228" becomes the 237" with a little bore and the 241 becomes the 251. Strokes are the same. A new wrinkle on an old face.
