From the picture of Dan's truck, the snowplow pump looks like a Monarch. Several snowplow companies used the Monarch pump. These pumps mounted upon the back of the generator with an adjustable strap. In most applications a double groove pulley, or just simply an additional pulley, was added to the generator to drive the pump belt.
The original setup for the Power-Wagon used an additional pulley that clamped onto the existing generator pulley. In these applications, a short v-belt runs from the additional generator pulley to an adjustable sheave pulley on the pump itself. The sheave is adjusted out wide for the belt to ride low in the groove, the belt is slipped on, and the sheave is adjusted in to tighten up the belt by making it ride higher in the groove. The generator can be moved and the trucks fan belt adjusted without effecting the pump belt.
This setup works real well. The drive belt for the pump doesn't have to be overly tight because it is contacting each pulley 1/2 of the way around their circumferences. Belt slippage on the water pump and generator is avoided without the addition of another accessory to power. The pumps are easy to rebuild by seperating their three sandwich type plates and surface grinding them, along with the sides of the gears, to bring them back into tolerance. The sides are where pressure is lost. Same as in the oil pumps on our trucks.
Monarch is still in business. They do not have parts or provide service for the old pumps but they sent me copies of all of the old information. (I believe these pumps were used up untill about 1979). I do not have their address at hand but I know they have a web site that you should be able to find with a good search engine.
