I'll just add one other thing to this thread. Had a friend who had a horse trailer and his neighbor/friend ask if he could borrow it to take their horse to some kind of get together. He agreed and they picked up the truck and trailer and drove it to where ever they were going. I guess on the way back the horse slid under the back bar and they didn't know till the got home and the horse was in panic mode and messed up. Lots of vet bills.
Neighbor took my friend to court to sue HIM for the vet bills for his defective trailer. Guys in the know said the horses owner tied it up wrong but still went to court. Here is the scary part. Judge asked if any money was exchanged for rental or even to pay for some gas. There wasn't any, it was all free. Judge threw it out but said if he had taken $1.00 for gas money he would have been liable for the damages. It's sad we live in times like this but think long and hard about your decisions.
