Gearing? Stock is geared as low as can be humanly desired. Lockers? Can be added to stock. Big axles? Stock is plenty strong, especially with "normal" size tires. Yeah, he has 4X the HP, but what can you do with HP while rock-crawling?
To me, this project just shows that people like the looks of the original PW body. I would be surprised if it goes through any terrain that a stock truck couldn't. I agree there might be some improvement in steering, at least with modern-profile tires that are harder to turn than NDTs.
