I was reading on obituary today of a local gentleman who was a veteran of the US Army & was said to have served "in the Korean & Viet Nam conflicts." It goes to list him as earning the National Defense Service Medal with two Bronze stars. He was 71 yrs old & born in December 1945. My question is, how is it possible the he served in the Korean "conflict" when the listed timeline it shows to have occurred is from 1950 til 1953. He was in only age 5 to 8 during that time. He didn't turn 16 until December 1961. Was anything still going on in Korea then? Thank you
