I'm in Lyons. That is 4005 and ya it is UP. Was built to haul heavy loads faster over the Wahsatch range. 7000hp.
Nice states to have dirt in. CO native here... family has been here since 5 years after it was a state. My cousin drove diesel hauling freight mostly. He said driving that was not to big a deal. Just had to know a couple of valves out of probably 30 in the cab. Coal was belt fed under the cab floor.
Also had another engineer cousin (great aunts son in law... never met them) who was killed in a head on in Broomfield CO. Weird thing, there was another head on in 1985 about 1/2 mile east under the Boulder turnpike. I was heading to the airport and got almost to the wreck before the police or fire trucks arrived. Gotta imagine where I might have been had I left a couple minutes earlier! 5 killed and melted the turnpike. 100ft flames. Was really something to see and had to go back and detour.
