Joe: There was a similar radiator shade included in the postwar Winterization Kit for the Dodge WC 3/4-ton 4X4 military trucks. It was tightly pleated and when lowered rested stacked upon itself at the bottom of the radiator opening behind the grille guard. It was raised and lowered by a separate cable going to inside the cab. This type was not on a roller like an old fashioned window shade but, instead, when raised rode along three or so tiny vertical cables that went through grommets in the pleated shade itself. Like the one you saw at Bob's yard, it could be adjusted to fine tune its warming effect as needed.
