Greg, I have used a thin coat of regular Lubriplate (the tan colored stuff) on my radiator hoses now for almost forty years. Got the idea from my Old Man when I was in high school. Don't know how long he had been doing it before that. Have never had any issues. If there is worry about hose deterioration, the hose should probably be replaced anyway by the time the Lubriplate starts to eat into it. Also,you may want to look at the Snap On radiator hose removal tools. Expensive,YES! Definitely worth the money for easing the pain in the rear! Not sure if Harbor Freight has anything similar (Bought mine 35 years ago, before Harbor Freight).
