Sounds like a tear down is needed. Again yes sorry. I think it may be shorted inside. Something must be touching the case/cover. You should be able to see the contact point. it will leave a mark. A close eye, good lighting and maybe even a magnifying glass. I do hate taking something that you just got done restoring about again. Good luck.
