tranny sticks in 3rd

I have a 56 wm300,and it runs well in first and second gear. When I shift into third gear, it is STUCK. Double shifting does not help. Had to stop the truck and pull the gearshift lever HARD to get it out. Clutch does slip a little in 1 & 2, only when climbing a steep hill, or plowing snow uphill. Any suggestions? Is there a clutch adjustment? Thanks!
