Ray who built the disk brake sets was a machinist who worked on parts for large heavy lift helicopters. His standards working in that industry were well beyond what the auto industry required. He obviously thought that it was perfectly fine to weld the ring to the hub. I have 4 sets of his disk brakes and am not worried at all. Obviously, I would never weld the ring on myself with my meager welding skills.
