When I first started work it was a part time job in an old service station run by an old guy who had been in auto business many years. He had lots of antique equipment for repairs that I learned to use. Apart from that he had this massive battery charger and when we replaced a battery for a customer my job was to get on the long rubber gloves and hose out the battery cells. Put battery in rack and clamp, turn rack upside down and drain battery into collector, remove collector, hose all loose debris out of battery with regulated water supply, turn rack back over and clean up outside of battery, refill with (if memory serves) distilled water with sulphuric acid 35% (it came in plastic 1 gallon containers), call the boss when done and he would operate this huge charger with all sorts of gauges and switches. If it was successful - and most were - it would go on the second hand battery shelf and be sold for about 60% of new price.
