Hi guys. Had a question someone might know the answer to. I have a 59 civilian pw - short bed sweptside.

Stock engine is very tired...but original.

Im planning to rehab the whole truck and wrestling with building the 318 poly or pulling it out - beefing up the front axle to a dana 60 and adding either a 4bt or 6bt.

I don't wanna cramp this thing too much or hack the cab...but a friend of mine said the 4bt is only 100 pounds lighter than the 6bt so it would be foolish to go with the 4.

Im not into crazy power or tuning either the 4 or 6 to max out hp. I just like the reliability of the cummins 12v.

anyone know if either the 4 or 6 would be a better choice for other reasons...space being one...
Im sure there are things i havent even thought of...so any wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks! J
