I like the idea of quitting the pain pills for a while and see what happens. I don't know what all you're taking but it seems like the V.A. really likes to load you up with pills, even more than civilian medics. I know a young woman here who was supposed to be on her death bed. She was born diabetic and has been in and out of hospitals, getting more and more pills for this and that all her life. Finally it was getting to the end, she was too sick for a transplant, everything was falling apart, she was delirious, and they took her off most of her drugs just so she could be coherent to say goodbye and die. That was 6 months ago and now she's at home doing pretty well, all things considered. Her mother says it was like a miracle how she "came back" after she got off all those drugs. It's sure worth a try.
