You don't have a sock filter in the tank, do you?

You are running a P7100 with a piston lift pump, right?

If you were running a diaphragm pump, I'd say that converting to a piston pump is the best thing you can do to improve the reliability of a 4bt.

On your P7100, you can eliminate the possibility of an electrical problem by disconnecting the solenoid linkage. manually turn the shutdown lever to the on position. You can start the truck normally. You'll have to drop the clutch to kill it. You could test drive it that way to diagnose.
