I am a Heating contractor and install radiant heat frequently, 2" foam board is sometimes used, or I prefer a roll of bubble wrap type insulation made for this application, 6" grid wire mesh, with tubing tied to it. No need to lift tubing or grid, Heat has no place to go but up and will heat the slab no problem. you do want to be aware of any walls, lifts, toilets etc. that may be installed later on.
