Hello all,

I am in the process of putting up a pole building with a 6” concrete floor, with rebar, and radiant hot water heat.

I have been given a ton of different info on the proper way to install the hot water radiant heating system.

Some experts say to install the vapor barrier, the insulation, the PEX, the rebar on top of the PEX, and then the 6” pour.

Others are telling me the rebar should be above the insulation and under the PEX.

And others are telling me the PEX should be no more than 2” under the finished surface.

This leads me ask questions.

If the rebar is below the PEX any torsional movement could damage the PEX and then leak?

If the PEX is only 2” below the finished surface would limit the deep I could fasten down any equipment and etc.?

If the PEX is below the rebar and at the bottom of the pour will I get the proper heating?

What have you guy done and what works the best?

Thanks for any input.

daveyk
