Sadly it was taken out by high winds. It was very odd as it was completely solid. When Hurricane Ike's winds passed through Ohio it ripped the top out along with a whole lot of other trees. We had 3 ft trees uprooted everywhere. It tore out the top on this one and left a 20 ft totem pole. We worked up the top and left the pole, hoping it would leaf out but it didn't throw a single leaf after 2 years. Here is just the top. 20 ft up it Y'd. One branch over 3 ft, the other 4 ft. Eventually cut it all up and totaled 18 cord from one tree. Tree was over 400 years old, sad to see as it was healthy and solid. Rare for a Beech. We have quite a few 3 -4 ft's
