The M37 I had at your place was about the coolest build I've ever seen & it was years ahead of its time. I wish I could take credit for it but all credit goes to Daniel Tibus of Utah. He built the lockers front & rear for that truck & it was many years before Dan had ARB build the lockers for our trucks & so it was the first of its kind to ever have lockers on stock axles. The diesel...I'm not a fan of GM diesels & that one is no exception but it sure was a fun truck to drive. It had lots of things I didn't like but overall...it's amongst my favorite M37's.
The best truck I ever built by far was the orange 49 PW. I mean same thing...lots of queries as to why I'd leave the 301 Poly in it. When I bought it, I planned to haul it out but after hearing the story of it being installed at the Dodge dealer in ID in 59 & seeing how they'd done it...I was so impressed that I decided to leave it in there.
I just bought it back from my dad. Still has zero miles from when I restored it. Not sure if you remember the story but Jonas & I made a bet that I wouldn't paint it flat orange. I painted it flat orange alright but my father had me take the whole truck back apart & clear coat it!
Still think it looked way better flat orange. Might have to take it apart again & clear it with satin clear ;)
