I suppose the term "flat fender Power Wagon" is mildly annoying to me, but I don't really care that much.

I guess it's flat in one direction - i.e., it's flat in the left-right direction. The curvature in the front-to-back direction is rather large, so it can almost appear as being flat, though it is not flat, and certainly not as flat as a Jeep fender. I guess the basic point is that it is not a compound curved fender like most other trucks and cars had in that era, including the more civilian-looking Power Wagons that started production in 1957. So some folks like to use the "flat fender" term to distinguish between the military-looking Power Wagons and the ones that shared sheet metal with 2WD trucks.

Instead of "Flat Fender," maybe we should call them "Unidirectionally Flat Fender Power Wagons" or "UFFPW" or "UDFFPW." :-0
