I need input from diesel engine operators more knowledgeable than I. have an old OMC Mustang skid loader with a 4 cylinder Perkins diesel. It runs well and starts easily.
In the cold, it will gel up fast below freezing unless I run straight number 1 fuel. How much power loss is normal going from straight number 2 to using number 1 fuel?
I experience significant power loss on number 1, as well as a lot of smoking.
The other issue is I rarely use this loader when it isn't cold, so I don't know for sure if my issues are caused by the cold or the number 1 fuel.
PW content, this is the first winter I remember that we have so much snow that even the PW can't get out.

Thanks

Dave
