If he has the GEM-17090 housing, he should be fine using the TIM-16 cup and TIM-15A tapered roller for the upper bearing, adjusting the cap to the proper bearing pre-load. The TIM-16 cup specs are 1.4848 I.D. x 2.047 O.D. x 15.32 width, he can see how the TIM-18 measures up, the OI.D and O.D. measurements being most important.
I haven't been able to find a TIM-18 cup anywhere on the net including Military part suppliers, so he may be forced to use the TIM-16 and TIM-15A combination.
