So a few things could be going on. your sympton sounds like worn main/rod bearings. Since it is rebuilt, that better not be the case, but maybe he put the wrong bearings in? I've learned to measure EVERY engine bearing before it gets put in. Manufacturers make mistakes all the time.

It could be the pressure relief spring, but I'm not convinced. What is the oil pressure at 1500 RPM or so when hot?? You don't need 50 psi at idle.

I encourage you to save the oil from your first oil change (at like 5 hours( and send it to Blackstone for Analysis. They will tell you if there is metal in it, and what the metal is. Metal of course means a problem.
