Mark: We ended up filling the rear tires on our tractor. It is extremely stable now, and the only time I use the chains now is if we're expecting over two feet of snow. ( a once every five year occurrence here..) With chains it is unstoppable and I've not been able to get it stuck.
The other thing we did was hard face the friction surface of the skids. They wear out fast!
