Before buying any YOM plates you might want to do some research with your states' MVD.
I've got my 46 WDX registered in Arizona. In 46 (due to WWII) AZ did not issue a new plate. They issued an inspection sticker. Armed with copies of the regulations regarding YOM and the 45/46 issue I took a beat-up 45 plate to my local MVD office. Of course the first answer from the clerk was "HELL NO". After a long discussion with the supervisor she gave me the same answer.
I then asked who I could appeal this decision to. This refocused her thought and she made copies of the plate and forwarded them to the State office.
The state rejected the request based on the condition of the plate. I kinda agreed with them on that basis.
I bought another plate which was restorable on eBay and sent it to Brian Maybry whose link is at the bottom.
My refinished plate is about the 7th one down on the page. He did a good job and the before and after pictures speak for themselves.
P.S.I'm still in Tennessee where my WDX is located so I haven't made my final attempt for approval, but AZ has no grounds for rejection.
