long story but here goes(lil history)

mine came with a 237 that a previous owner put in it--with what i thought was a makeshift rad.--i tried to get it fixed but the rad shop said it was junk--so i tossed it( left it for junk at his shop) stupid--i realized later that it was the stock rad. for the 237 that came out of the desoto taxi the motor came from--but they did not use the fill cap cuz it did not line up with the stock hole in the sheet metal--so they had some makeshift spout that just did not look right so i thought the rad was makeshift--should have kept it and gotten a new core and kept the vintage tanks--maybe it s still there

anyway i found a good rad at a junk yd that mounted in front of the rad support that i bolted to the grill holes--it was a 2 panel core vs the stock 3 but it was longer and wider so my thinking was it would be ok and i managed to close the filler hole on he rad. and ran a neck from the rad to the filler hole in the sheet metal- i have the 230 pump(higher and closer to the engine) and the neck to the hole cleared the rad. by an 3/4 plus of an inch.

but after that i pulled the stock rad out of one of my other trucks and decided i want to use it and try to keep it stock--and was going to mod the rad the vpw way as galen said--but i decided i did not want to mod a perfectly good rad.-----so i moved the top of the sheetmetal that has the filler hole in it 2 inche forward by bending a pc of 1/8 by 2 in bar to bolt on top of the stock flange(lip the hood sits on) of the stock top and then welded another pc welded to the bottom of it for the hood to sit on--this way i can use the stock 230 rad

almost looks factory!!!!!!--looks good to me and i did not butcher anything

the only draw back is since the top sheet metal has been moved forward the edge of said top sits 1/4 further out on each side but it lines up the the flair in the hood for the hinges so it looks ok to me

i have it all pretty much done but it is off the truck now for final touches but i will try to post a pic mounted soon

i did this thinking maybe it would be an option for a 6bt and took some measurements off my friends ram 6bt and tis close
