I have installed a 237 in my WC-12. It has been balanced, along with the clutch and flywheel. A 241 "Spitfire" head which has been shaved, and the VPW performance cam and heavy duty springs installed in it. Still has the 1 barrel B&B carb though. I like the original looking carbs on the flatheads. If you stay with the 230, try and find a 57-59 head. I have one in the 230 that I just pulled out. The compression ratio is 8:1 on this head. I felt the difference immediately. The motor had a definite "Snap" to it when accelerating. Yes, you can get the same results by shaving the current head you have.
